I bought a new laptop lead about a month ago as my old one wasn't charging, but now the new ones doing the same. The red light keeps going on and off like there's a loose connection inside my laptop?Any ideas?

try running off the mains without the battery fitted..does it do the same ?? If so, sounds like a dodgy power socket connection (always a weak point on lappys, IMHO) or if not, maybe the battery is on the way out.........Gettin' There, Wherever There is......
I have a dodgy "i" key, so ignore spelling errors due to "i" issues, ...I blame Apple

As GunJack suggests, try using your laptop plugged in without the battery. If it still isn't working it'll be the power connection into the laptop which is a costly repair (~£200) as this part is connected to the motherboard and the whole laptop would have to be sent away to it's manufacturer. Unfortunately it’s usually one of the first limited-life parts to go
