I will - am struggling to get my wages redirected to my new bank at barclays as they have now told me it is going to take about 10 working days before i get my sort code and account number - when I explained that I needed to get my wages transferred they just said they couldn't do anything!!!! Not sure what to do now as regards this.
I was also in a Sharesave scheme at work and I cashed this in prior to going BR as I needed to find the money to pay for the BR fees - I was informed by the Bank that they would close that account but today I received a cheque for #30 presumably this was from last week's wages as my work must had carried in on even though I cancelled it - this cheque for #30 does it go to the OR - I tried to deposit it in the Barclays account but they wouldn't take it because of having no sort code or account number
I will have to see if my wages goes into Halifax tomorrow as work informed me they did not have enough time to transfer it elsewhere nor do I have another bank account to transfer it to so as you can imagine I am very frustrated as to what to do???0 -
ok, if your wages are being paid into Halifax tommorrow, you havent got a choice really. If you bank online you can check probably from midnight onwards. If they have been paid in, go tommorrow and withdraw the lot, whilst you still have time. As for Barclays, 10 days to open the account is pushing it, more like 3/4 weeks. If in doubt get a pre paid mastercard, normally takes 14 days from application to reciept of the card.0

I will check the bank after 12 to see if they have gone in but not sure if I am allowed to withdraw them as I drew the #600 out on Monday after going BR which I have been told they will ask for this money back - am in a bit of a dilema what to do for the best as the money I drew out was to pay for my mortgage on the 1st of the month which is 501.00 and the other money I go was for living expenses until I got things sorted - how do you go on about opening up a prepaid account? Can wages be paid straight into those accounts - is there any other way of opening account sooner than 14 days to get my wages paid in?0

you can open a pre paid mastercard such as Cashplus or Virgin online. Check the costs to see which is best for you. You can get your wages paid in no problem. If you get paid monthly, your Barclays account should be opened by mid Feb. touch wood!0

Hi just thought I would keep you updated with my Halifax account - checked online and my wages have been paid and I also notice a payment has been taken out for my Gas Bill - I tried to transfer the direct debit for my Gas and rang Eon up - I was told by them that I couldn't carry on paying the #55 per month as previously as the minimum payment is #65 - could not believe this as my gas consumption is very low and was in credit by #96 but they said that didn't matter so they have carried on and taken #54 from my account - what will be OR say about that going out now? I cannot understand why they are making me pay more as I am on my own and out at work most of the time? Does anybody know of any better companies for gas and electric to switch to.
I keep expecting this account to be closed but as yet nothing seems to have happened - should I take my wages out even though it is now showing an overdraft after drawing that #600 out - it is going to take another two weeks wages to clear the overdraft and am so afraid to touch the bank even though they said it was ok?
Still waiting to hear from the OR0 -

just to keep everybody updated - I had a call from the OR office today asking for my house insurance details and stressed that it must be paid - explained that this was being paid by dd and then she asked me about details regarding my car - what year was it, was it an estate or hatchback what year and was it insured - puzzled by this as it was stated on my form when I filled it in!!!!!!
She never mentioned anything about the papers I have in my possession so not sure how they check things out also she said I had to go down to their office in Manchester on the 12th February at 9.30 and the interview will take about 4 - 5 hours - is this normal?
She never mentioned anything about the house only to ask if I was up to date with payments - she also never mentioned anything about my Halifax Bank account even though I did mention that my DD were being paid from their - so after reading many threads on here am totally confused.0
