Yorkshire Windows - heard of them??

Hi
We have just bought a new house and have been getting some quotes for new all round double glazing, doors and some french doors at the back.
Our quotes so far were £10K and £7K.
This morning a guy from Yorkshire windows came round and has called me to say £5.5K.
The guy is a sub contractor for Yorkshire windows and when I rang them for the first quote the person I spoke to advised this is the way they work - the guy that quotes will be the fitter.
The base for the person is not far from our house but I haven't been able to search out much info on yorkshre windows.
I have checked the FENSA website but the address of the guy who has quoted for us did not come up - if he's a sub contractor though will the registration be under the whole yorkshire windows comapny.
On FENSA there is a yorkshire windows and conservatories ltd listed so this maybe them.
When the rest of the quotes are in I'm going to call him back anyway if he's the cheapest and question the registration and any guarantees but was looking for a bit of help at this stage.
Cheers
Ben

Do i take it from that you are living in Yorkshire. Don't think i've seen anything in the local paper advertising these but could be wrong. If you are in Yorkshire then you could try these WEST YORKSHIRE WINDOWS or try these for quotes;
Envy Windows Ltd
12, Market St, Normanton, West Yorkshire WF6 2AR
Tel: 01924 891881**BERTIE**Did you Know: It costs more than £325,000 a day to run the lifeboat service? (with no government funding) Please donate to the RNLI0 -
Envy WIndows were recommended to me too. As well as Winsor Conservatories in Selby, whom I went with as they were 700 cheaper than Envy. Had windows done in December so early days but so far so good. Didn't have conservatory but all windows and doors replaced. If you want telephone number, will dig it out.0

I just paid £8000 for 13 new windows and two doors.
Our installer is FENSA registered and provides a 10 year insurance backed guarantee. We've already had to have him back once to make some minor adjustments and because of the standards he has to maintain...nothing's too much trouble.
Make sure you only deal with a FENSA company with a good guarantee and pay the extra if necessary.0 -
Yorkshire Windows are a quite well known company in Leeds. They have some terrible ads on the local radio.
They do employ their own fitters but probably sub-contract as well. I know a builder who used to work for them fitting conservatories and he said the actual windows/units were fine.0 -

how much would 1 PVC door cost?0 -

Cant remember exact what they quoted but we visited them aswell but in the end went with Envy of Normanton and it cost us just under £500 a couple of years ago. They advertise in the Wakefield Express most weeks.**BERTIE**Did you Know: It costs more than £325,000 a day to run the lifeboat service? (with no government funding) Please donate to the RNLI0
