Singapore Airlines - Stopover Deal

I was wondering if anyone had used the Singapore Stopover Trip, through Singapore Airlines? We are flying to New Zealand in April with SA and when i checked last year it seemed a really good deal, with quite a few extra thrown in with hotel such as transfer, access to attractions, etc.

However, they have just published prices from 31st March and they seem to have gone up a lot.

I wanted to know if anyone had used this service and whether they could recommend it, before i determine whether the new costs would be worth it?

Thanks in advance :-)

Haven't seen the new prices, but when i used the stopover programme 2 years ago I thought it was very good value.

I paid something like £40 for a night in a hotel which was absolutely fine (£40 was well below the rack rate). As you say it also included a minibus transfer to and from Changi. I think there were some vouchers for other things too (a bus tour or something?) but I didn't use those. So yes- it was good value. And much nicer to spend a day or two in Singapore than get straight on the next plane.

We used it last year and it was great. Worth paying for a limo to pick you up and take you to the hotel, we got priority clearing from the airplane with it.

Do ask whether discounts are available but in general yes you should do it.
  • Thanks everyone, this is very encouraging. Can't wait to go! Just need to review all the hotels on the list now to make sure we get a good one.

They have a promotion on on this at the moment. http://www.singaporeair.com/saa/en_UK/content/promo/ssh/hotels/UK/FSS.jsp?JSESSIONID=rh1NKXbD9xCQwHy7wk2d7VDYPNsNLnNjY7yv94gCwFNbGhQmVGc2!56539078!NONE

They're offering twin rooms for £2 and single rooms for £23 in the cheapest hotels, but it seems you can't book a twin as a single traveller (it's tied to your flight reservation), unless anyone knows any tricks? Still £23 is pretty cheap.

I think this is well worth the value. When I was in Singapore the Traders was full of people on the Stopover. Regents Hotel is good .Would say one of the top hotels in the group. My son just spent 3 months staying there. Pan Pacific is just off Orchard Road.Regent and Traders sit together 5 mins walk from Orchard Road. Even if you dont shop Orchard road worth the walk.I would plump for Pan Pacific or the Regent Just my opinion someone might be able to give you info on some of the others

As with other posters we did this two years ago and it was great, had 6 days in Singapore. Plus we booked the private car from airport to hotel and back, well worth the extra, about £25, as the driver collected our luggage and whisked us through customs etc. Others were taken from hotel to hotel in a minibus and dropped off at the hotel nearly an hour later! Not what you want after a lomg haul flight.
Point to check on your booking, did you choose your seat using the seat plan on SA or seatguru? If so it may be wrong as when we went SA were using charter aircraft between Singapore and Auckland, these had more seats, less legroom and the seat layout/numbers were different!
But the staff and flight were great.
