    Hi there,

I am in the same situation as you and we have also booked a bouncy catle for the reception.

I was thinking of putting together a sort of fun bag for them - like a party bag type thing.

If you look in the party section of asda or tesco there are packs of 5 of things such as bubbles, crayons, little games etc and they are not that expensive. And then I'm going to out a couple of packets of sweets in. Home Bargains could also be a good place for getting bits to put in it.

Nowt over the top but something to just grab their attention while the speaches are on!
:D Finally decided to start growing up when it comes to money!:j
  • Thanks guys i will look into that.

  • I went to a wedding at the end of october and what they did that worked really well was sit all the children on one table together (the adults on the surronding tables all helped to make sure they behaved and ate etc, as did the older kids on the table). This table was right next to the dance floor so as soon as the kids finished each course they jumped up and danced still the next one came out.

They did have older children there up to age 11 at the table, but I was surprised at how well they all behaved as several of them where under 7. The only thing that had been put on any of the tables were bubbles and sweets.

The Early Learning Centre has some great bits in fir £1 in their sale at the moment. Packs of little foam shapes with PVA glue to make monster faces, and small jigsaw puzzles.
  • At a wedding I was at recently, the kids were given a goody bag with folded cardboard, some coloured pencils, some stickers and a note saying it would be lovely if they could make a card for the bride & groom. They got really into it and all ages enjoyed it; the tiny tots just doing their particular brand of scribbly art and some of the older ones were composing poems. it kept them quiet and because there was no glue involved, it wasn't messy!
  • For my wedding last year I booked a local children's entertainer, who was fantastic - this kept the children occupied whilst all the speeches were being done. All the children (about 15of them from 1 year upto about 12 years) also had party boxes containing mini colouring books, pencils, toys, stickers, yoyo's. I got some of the bits from supermarkets and The Works.
