I'm surprised at the FSA not wanting to know more about the bank. Even though a fraud hasnt taken place - the potential is there - i wonder how many others this has happened to??? They have fined banks in the past for not having adequate controls.
I would call the bank again - see what they say (take the name of the person you are speak to), then write to them - give them 14 days to respond and if they are still not doing anything then go to the FSO - http://www.financial-ombudsman.org.uk/
The FSO will only help after you have tried to contact the bank - though i'm sure a quick call cant harm.
It is a little long. and at the same time - i would also do what scaredycat suggests and contact the ICO - then you are covered on all based.

I've moved your post over to the current account board as this isn't really an 'up your income' sort of question, although the advice you've received so far seems pretty comprehensive! I hope you get it resolved quickly.
Martin’s asked me to post this in these circumstances: I’ve asked Board Guides to move threads if they’ll receive a better response elsewhere (please see this rule) so this post/thread has been moved to another board, where it should get more replies. If you have any questions about this policy please email abuse@moneysavingexpert.com0 -
Thanks for that, if anyone else has had it happen to them it would be great to get some advice on how you handled it!0

Also, have you alerted the Data Protection Registrar? The bank should definitely be worried. Under Data Protection regulations, the individual person who released your information could be prosecuted, not just the bank. It's possible they think they can just fob you off and you won't know how to take it further.
Thanks for this info. I have received someone elses CCA request and I am assumng they have received mine. Very useful info,:beer:Wow, I got 3 *, when did that happen :j:T:p
It is not illegal to open another persons mail unless you intend to commit fraud - this is frequently incorrectly posted
I live in my head - I find it's safer there:p

Ask yourself ..... 'why would they do that'?
And the response should be that :- They made a mistake or
- Because someone (as post #5) purporting to be you, asked them to do it

They made a mistake in branch a human error. Apparently if someone has done it as 2 then they would be prosecuted but because it was as in 1 what the hell. After attempting to find out the truth for a long time I am still waiting an apology0
