Admittedly, i agree, but the OH doesn't so they have to be 'hidden' unfortunately...0 -
I cook extra veg then puree it and mix with tomato puree for HM pizza sauce, then top with usual tomatoes, peppers, ham, cheese etc.
I use half porrige oats and half flour when making crumble topping.Thoughts to all. Mrs D.

Ooooo, really good idea, thank you very much! :j I hadnt thought of that really, mainly because he has to adjust his diet to my tastebuds, but then i do all the cooking! Useful idea though.0 -

I add oats to spag bol - nobody notices
Add gravy browning to spag bol when using turkey mince (cheaper) and it looks less anaemic
Add cannellini beans whole to curries, or liquidised to spag bol0 -
Use quorn sausages instead of meat.
You could fool most people with Asdas Loincolnshires frozen sausages I reckon. I luffs them done with that So Juicy red wine sauce.1,2 & 5p: Christmas day food £9.31

I want to know what you had blanked out now LiR!
I used to blitz most things but people are less fussy now in my house. I tend to make carrot or banana or beetroot cakes rather than just cakey ones so there's added fruit and veg there too.
I use the cheap oil in my cakes as it is rape seed oil so has a good level of omega three.
I had to serve up quite an empty spag bol last night as I cut my finger really deeply when I was prepping it. Hence I only got home grown tomatoes, 2/3 of a leek and 1/2 a bunch of celery in it. I would have added carrots and whatever else I could see lying around. Unfortunately, I had to just leave it as I was bleeding everywhere. One way of adding extra iron to it though :eek:Debt: 16/04/2007:TOTAL DEBT [strike]£92727.75[/strike] £49395.47:eek:   £43332.28 repaid 100.77% of £43000 target.MFiT T2: Debt [STRIKE]£52856.59[/STRIKE] £6316.14 £46540.45 repaid 101.17% of £46000 target.2013 Target: completely clear my [STRIKE]£6316.14[/STRIKE] £0 mortgage debt. £6316.14 100% repaid.0 -
I add quorn mince to not only bulk out mince dishes but there is less fat in quorn so kind of makes it healthierI, not events, have the power to make me happy or unhappy today. I can choose which it shall be. Yesterday is dead, tomorrow hasn't arrived yet. I have just one day, today, and I'm going to be happy in it.

I started my bag of broccoli and cauli stalks tonight;). Great for my next bolognese or casserole.
I have cut back hugely on the quantity of meat we have per meal. It's obviously mse but healthy too. For a stir-fry, we have a piece of beef the size of a large matchbox or half a chicken breast between the two of us. I find if I slice it soon after it comes from the freezer I can cut it really thin so it looks more and fries quickly. Also if you cut sausages into meatball size pieces, 3 sausages does a meal for two in a casserole with loads of veg.
Not the most mse but healthy, I use those frylight sprays instead of oil and none at all for browning mince etc. With onions, I soften them in the microwave before frying, speeds it up.
ETA: does anyone use the leaves off a cauli? I thought I might put those in my bag too.0
