Is there a standing charge and if so what on the BG websaver 1 tariff
paying by quarterly cash/cheque ?

Of course there ARE exit fees, which I'm sure you are aware of. Another thing to bear in mind with BGs online tariffs is they have a tendency to be superceded at alarmingly regular intervals, leaving you on the 'old' and invariably more expensive tariff (unless you happen to notice the new tariff, of course, and request to be put on it). In other words, to get the very best deal with these sort of tariffs you need to be on the ball.

There isn't a daily standing charge, but you do pay extra for the first 125 units(kWh) you use each quarter.

Cardew, thats correct Tier 1 20.392p first 125kWh and Tier 2 11.408 the rest.
