I did not know where to post this but ive put it here anyway.
I am 14 years old and a reguler buyer off the internet. I recently came across www.bluecorner.co.uk
This is where they that children have what is like a debit card (so it can buy stuff off the internet + shops) but is a top up card so you cant go in the red etc.
I was reading up on the t&c's when i noticed charges such as at least 85p topping up fee and it cost £10 to actually buy the card.
I use my mum or dads card to buy goods off the internet and then i give them the money but sometimes they dont have enough money on the card or just wont let me buy something i want because its "a waste of money".
Is there any sort of account i could open where i would have the ability to buy goods off the internet considering my age and hopefully not have to pay for the card.
Thanks

hi
try barclays do a under 19 young persons account
which offers a visa electron card
electron is taken in most places on the net and almost eveywere that takes visa in shops
you cant go into the red as it only lets u spend what you have
and no charges at all...
i think a parent will have to sign consent for you to get the card but other than that its easy enough
you get a paying in book, card, monthly statements..
you can also have money paid in through standing order (if your parents pay u pocket money ect)
i think this card is great for young adults as it allows you to learn about money ect without the risk...
let me know how u get on
good luck

i know its not the same but it says
You could use a VISA Electron card to shop with or withdraw £300 a day, as long as you've got money in your account and you get your parent or guardian's permission**.0 -
Regarding bluecorner read this thread: bluecorner.co.uk
I think Solo card is wider accepted than Visa Electron. HSBC and Natves provide accounts with Solo cards for 12y.o.+0 -
most sites i visit accept visa electron but alot dont accept solo i dont know why its basically the same card..
yes that link is the one..
you can open the card account on your own and they give you a cash card but with parents permision you get a visa electron..
i took my brother to get one with a letter with from our mum.. they rang my mum to comfirm and opened the account...
check with your local branch on what id you require and if you need a parent there in person...
