noisy toilet cistern

Our downstairs toilet has become very noisy after flushing. It seems much worse when the weather is really cold. Did it for a bit last year and then stopped doing it.
. will it be a job for a plumber or can we DIY. Thanks

Probably just needs a new washer in the float valve.
It should be fairly easy to DIY. Switch off the water, flush the toilet. Then the end of the valve nearest the float should unscrew to give access to the washer.
Have a look on Google to find info and pictures how to replace it.0 -
You can actually buy silencer things that you use. We had to get one... places like b and q and wickes etc...
there is one here at screwfix

or if its an old type of valve, replace it with a torbeck valve/float.
