Asda

I visited Asda @ Fulwood, Preston, last night and thought it was a disgrace.

In future I will stick with Morrisons, Sainsburys and Lidl.

The store was not overly busy but there was big gaps where shelfs were not refilled. The yoghurt fridge was just a mass of empty boxes and throughout the store items were not placed in the correct space for the price ticket.

I normally enjoy food shopping and searching for bargains but after 3/4 of an hour I am afraid I had to just leave my trolley and get out.

There are VERY few special offers available ( they used 3 end of aisle fridges for a 2 for 1 bacon offer ) but large signs saying roll back save 2 pence.

I will NEVER go back again

Hey if you think that one is bad you want to pop up the motorway to the one at Morecambe! That is worse! When we go to Preston we often pop to the Asda at Fulwood - we always say it is so much quieter, easier to get round, better stocked, easier to park!!

    Hi hjb123
If I was you I would vote my feet then. You have a Morrisons up there, they have some fantastic special offers.

I did not think Asda was that cheap anyway. Although I did begrudge leaving a litre of Smirnoff for £ 12

We tend to use Tesco now that we have one near by, to be honest we arent that badly off for the big supermarkets round here, its just how they are when you are in them!

I don't like the Asda "WOW Price" stickers on shelf ends. Often they are just selling a product at a regular price, but making it look like it's a special offer.

Out of the big supermarkets, Morrisons have the most special offers.
Here I go again on my own....

I will never set foot in Asda again.
They gave me a hard time when I tried to exchange or refund a dvd player which was faulty (long story in another thread) after which I swore I would never buy any electrical item from them again.

I was in there last week buying a few groceries. Waiting in the queue at checkout, I noticed a sign on a fire door, saying something like "please do not block this exit, as you may need it one day".

Fair enough, but for the fact that someone had tied the handles together using those plastic garden tie things. On checking, every single fire exit door was tied up the same way.

Can I just join in here and moan about ASDA??

We bought 2 DvDs to take on holiday. Didnt use them in the end, but came home in the afternoon, settled kids down, popcorn, etc etc. Couldn't open box! Phoned up CS and she said obviously the security seal hadnt been taken off. She said "don't try to take it off either, otherwise there is a device in there that cuts the DvD in half". She said this seal was only used by ASDA, yet said we couldnt take it back into the shop because how could we prove we had bought it in ASDA?! (have a laugh!!).
The same dozy !!!! told us that there was no way the assistant would put the DvD through the till and not taken off the seal. (were they calling us liars??). DH very irate by now....
Ended up storming down there, made manager look through records to find the time and date that we'd said, the exact purchases (DvDs) etc etc etc.
They removed the seals and my husband demanded compensation. They gave us the DvD for free in the end.

    Lidl????

sorry, i have a problem with lidl as i worked there for a year once (good pay but awful employee conditions).

lidl do always have what look like full shelfs. this is because the staff are ordered to pll another item forward everytime they see an empty space where a custiomer has taken an item.

when i worked there they also had be go round the store one afternoon making sure each price tag thingy on the shelf corresponded with the above item but it had to be cetral to the shelf item!

what a waste of time. yeah lidl may look nicely stocked to the consumer but please spare a thought for the staff who are run ragged with no word of thanks and generally treated like poop. hence the high turnover of staff)

Asda near us had zero competition for over 30 years, we just got a new Tesco last summer. We have not shopped in the local Asda for years much prefer to drive to a decent store a few miles away.

I though the competition from the new store would have bucked up the Asda but no it is still the pits...I called in a couple of weeks ago for a midweek fruit top up and they had no bananas, apples or oranges(including all the easy peel types) waste of time. Also I couldn't get round with even a small trolley because there were so many cages of goods on the shopfloor and it was only 8.30pm not the middle of the night.

...plastic ties which would very easily snap should you push against the fire doors but will discourage the extremely lazy from attempting to leave the store with their shopping via them
