If you tell the branch in advance you can get paid out in cash rather than by cheque when closing the account.
I'd rather not withdraw such a large amount in cash!! I guess they won't just transfer it into my current account then?“You can please some of the people some of the time, all of the people some of the time, some of the people all of the time, but you can never please all of the people all of the time.”0 -

Slightly worried as I received a letter a few weeks ago telling me the account wasn't due to mature until Feb so gave them a ring and they told me to ignore the letter and confirmed it is actually January.
Silly question, but can anyone tell me how I get my money out of this account? Can they do a bank transfer to current account for me or do I have to get a cheque from them? I'm guessing whichever way they do it I need to go into branch?0 -
you can have it transferred into external accounts too, either as a telegraphic transfer it will cost £25 and be in the account on the same day. Or a BACS transfer its free but can take up to 5 working days.0

Computer says NO! Had to accept a cheque which will also take 5 days to clear. Not sure all this hassle was worth it for a measly £135 interest!!!“You can please some of the people some of the time, all of the people some of the time, some of the people all of the time, but you can never please all of the people all of the time.”0
