And if she chooses to serve notice on me I'm on the streets! Not quite that simple!0 -

I understand you are in a tricky situation.
I suggest you talk to your LL and tell her to stick to her part of the deal otherwise you will have no choice but to tell the council about your flat mate.0 -
OR ask for a reduction in rent if both of you agree that you will pay all of the council tax.0

That's all well and good, but if I send the form back with just my name on it, receive the 25% discount and get caught out at a later date I'll be the one who has to face the music, no?0 -

We had this discussion last year, when she got caught out we were paying £525 pcm all bills in, however, my agreement only says rent of £525 it doesn't say all bills included so effectively out living expenses went up by £81 pcm each! I feel I'm being more than fair here and am being used as the whipping boy becuase my flatmate and landlady don't want there's names anywhere for whatever reason!0 -
Sounds like you've probably got an ASTA then, irrespective of what your LL thinks.timberflake wrote: »My LL has never lived at the apartment, before my new flatmate, my I had another flatmate. my tenancy agreement is just one sheet of paper saying she only has to give me on months notice but surely I could fight it on the basis that she would be asking me to leave because I refused to follow her on this questionable act? The reason I ask is because I have nowhere to go, literally nowhere!
Get it checked out legally first, but if I'm right you are protected under the various Housing Acts. If so, she cant evict you with 1 months notice.
However, it is an offence to give false information on the voter registration form. I don't know what the maximum penalty is, but perhaps it'll solve any accommodation issues for a few years

She can do that anytime she likes anyway, but she would have to go to court to get you out, it would take at least 3 months. Find yourself somewhere else to live, do not be a party to this fraud Councils always prosecute Council Tax dodgers.0 -

Your landlord would legally have to give you 2 months notice from a rent date.
Personally I think they are being pathetic. Why on earth doesn't your new housemate want his name on the council tax?? Something dodgy?!
I would just put your name on it, then for the second person write "Another Adult", then stick a post-it note on saying the second adult does not wish to have his/her name on the council tax.
What the council care about is no doubt the fact that TWO adults live there, so they can charge the 100% of the council tax!Should've = Should HAVE (not 'of')
Would've = Would HAVE (not 'of')
No, I am not perfect, but yes I do judge people on their use of basic English language. If you didn't know the above, then learn it! (If English is your second language, then you are forgiven!)0 -
If your worried about giving details which would result in eviction, then dont give any.
Write back giving your details & stating that there is another tenant who rents a room in the house, but that you do not have permission to give details. Suggest that they deal direct with the other tenant themselves, or contact your Landlord.
Why would your landlord not want her/his name associated with the house? Seems a little suspicious to me.0
