How do I find a cheap but good Photographer?

  • Hi. I got married last summer and used ezeeweddingphotos.com. They were amazing value for money. We paid £60.00 deposit to begin with and £300.00 on the day and received about 800 photos on a disc 3 days later. Amazing photos and I'm allowed to do what ever I want with all the photographs. The only additional charge was that I had to pay travel costs but it was very reasonable. Its certainly worth having a look especially with what some photographers are charging. Best of luck with your plans.
  • Hi.

I am a wedding photographer and I truely believe that you get what you pay for.

If you're not too bothered for an album, then the photographer you choose will only be charging for time, which when I analyise my own jobs, works out at about £50 / hr.

My prices are in the thousands, but thats because the packages I offer require a lot of post wedding day work, but to do a shoot for 1 or 2 hrs and provide images on a disk should cost you no more than £200.... £250 absolute max.

If you think you're being ripped off then you probably are. Negotiate because there is always room for a reduction in fees... especially in todays climate. I'm having to offer some crazy reductions just to get a booking.

    Good luck. Rich.
  • Remember to try sites like Gumtree for anyone looking to get started in the wedding photography business. That is where we found our photographer for our wedding in June. Getting a great deal on the proviso that he can use our album to use as his portfolio.

Try asking your local photographic club as they may have someone willing to take some pictures for you. Most good photographers charge, however, if you find a photographer you like (ie. look at their pictures and see if you like them) see if you can get a quote. Another alternative would be to check out your local college as they may well have photography students there who may also be able to help out.

Failing that get some disposable cameras and ask guests to take photographs.

    HTH

I really like this idea it would prob give a photography student a good start on a portfolio and also some experience as my wedding is next year ill guess ill have to wait for next years intake!!! Haha!!!
