7 day shop ?
Comments
-
I bought a camera from 7 Day Shop as a gift for my OH. It was a Nikon digital camera, and cost getting on for £200.
I smelt a bit of a rat when it arrived and the guarantee documentation was iffy.
Needless to say, within a year, the camera developed a fault with a rather flimsy lens cover failing to close fully, and I contacted them about a repair.
They told me to approach Nikon. I got as far as the Nikon website, where you can enter the serial number of the camera to check that it is a "kosher" European model. Of course, it wasn't.
In other words, I had been suckered into buying a grey import. You may think that there's nothing wrong with that if you know in advance and are willing to take a chance. In fact, it's bad. Nikon refuse to carry out even PAID repair work to their cameras if they were bought as grey imports. In fact, I emailed Nikon to say that the camera was still manufactured by them, and I felt I had been conned, etc., etc. They didn't even bother to reply.
In all fairness, 7 Day Shop eventually asked me to return the camera. They then refunded not only the purchase price, but also the cost of posting it back to them. Funny thing was that they didn't tell me that, and I only found out by contacting them again to ask if the camera could be repaired!
On the positive side, I have traded with them for many years for smaller items, like batteries, chargers, film, and all sorts of gizmos, and never have had a complaint until recently.Much of the social history of the Western world over the past three decades has involved replacing what worked with what sounded good. - Thomas Sowell, "Is Reality Optional?", 19930
