Natwest recieved my letter and Financial Statement 7th Jan 2009
phoned after a week to find out what happening was told cases was nearly there would be a few days
today still nothing so i rang them again
after two regular bank bods giving corporate response not answering my q's one stateing that they have "thoasands and thoadsands of cases they are dealing with"
i was passed onto the manager of the FH dept in Natwest who answered his phone with hello Business Support to which i queried he told me the FH was part of the Bus Sup he confirmed the UK FH Team consists of 6 people who deal with aprox 60 cases a day or 10 each slightly different to the "thoasands and thoasands"
the manager tryed to give me the same corporate responses but i was not accepting it and i told him i was writing down all the info he was telling me and that i would check with family member who worked for rival bank the answers he was giving me
to this he changed his tune to OK i will look at your case today and if there is anything missing from your claim i will call you back and let you know what is missing as well as send you a letter with these points ok i said and waited patiently
an hour has passed and i just recieved a call back from him with im sorry but we need more proof of expenditure as in photocopies of documents proveing rent and letters from creditiors
when i asked him why this is NOT MENTIONED OR ASKED FOR on the claim form he replied "its a generic form" i tried to confirm the details over the phone but he wasnt having it so we came to an agreement
i asked him if these items of proof are sent that our case would be looked at upon reciept of recorded letter
to which OMG im not sure if I can believe this he said "once these have been recieved and all the info backed up we would be refunded the bank charges"
as i quickly gather the documents and send them rec delivery att of this manager i am wondering is this now the time to get a little excited about getting my stolen money back and be able to pay the people i should have payed if the bank hadnt stolen the money in the first place
and possibly have a tenner left over to buy myself and the wife a beer
or will quantative easing be in place before they refund

The bank will review a Financial Hardship case on the basis of the evidence provided. The bank DOES NOT have to refund charges but they can suspend charges(all of that is contained within the FSA Waiver on Bank Charges on my signature). They usually refund under extreme hardship, ie priority debt arrears. Keep us updated and the number of people dealing with such cases does not surprise me.0

If you are in a genuine case of financial hardship then yes the bank will look to refund charges and suspend the account from any future charges on the account (as far as I am aware until the outcome of the courtcase is known). I urge you to try and remember that in this current climate that I am sure that staff members within these institutions are under extreme pressure in this day and age and I am sure are trying their very best to deliver a service and doing their jobs. And I can believe that they have thousands and thousands of applications to deal with due to the bandwagon culture that is encouraged in this society, so perhaps its unfair to assume that what you have been told is incorrect information.
I also doubt very much that your mention of a rival bank changed the situation as you are suggesting, as each institution takes guidance from their legal team and follows these rules and guidelines, so perhaps the poor manager was only trying to do his best as you clearly would not take no for an answer after being told by 2 different members of his team about the procedure.
I see you refer to 'stolen' money, I urge you to cast your mind back to when these charges were applied to the account for various reasons which I am sure range from unpaid direct debits to exceeding your limit, unpaid chq's etc. When you allow this to happen on your account you are in fact stealing from the bank by using money that does not belong to you, so of course you should be penalised, however I have no doubt that you will disagree.
P.S if you are in genuine financial hardship you shouldnt really have money for beer.0 -

FINALLY an EXEPTIONAL OFFER FROM NATWEST
a few hundred less than what we asked for maybe that was my miscalculation but just over £2500 with the "acceptance of this payment does not prevent you from benefiting, if the legal decision is more advantageous to you"
I WILL FIGHT ON
I WANT MY INTEREST
KEEP UP THE FIGHT ALL THEM THEIVING BANKERS NEED TO REPAY0
