But I can't make myself do that - daft, I know! In my mind, it is better to fail than hand in something half done!
I can understand that - my maxim has always been 'if something's worth doing it's worth doing properly'.
Despite having difficulties you sound like the perfect student. You're hard-working, honest, and want to study, you just had a little dip in motivation, that's all. I really hope it works out well for you.0 -
Ok, it wasn't so bad after all.
It's in much better shape than I thought actually.
Honestly, I despair with myself sometimes... The state I can get into, over nothing!
I'm not working until next Wednesday so I am going to see how much I can get done between now and then. Well, I'll start writing again tomorrow - there's no point starting with it now as I'll have to stop shortly anyway.

I sympathise as I have a mini dissertation at 5000 words to do on a case study of my choice by feb 16. For me it is in my head at the planning stage but I am enthused to do it so will all be ok.
As you like the field of work you are in, what do you think of social work as a job. You would be able to get on MA I should think quite easily. Alternatively stay in social care and get the registered managers award whilst you work.
I know not an answer to your original post but some alternative poitns of view.0 -
I would stay stick with it! you're not far away from the end. dissertation writing can be really tough, but also remember that when applying for jobs (even if not directly related to your degree) they may well take an interest in your dissertation, or want to know about your skills/experience at writing large pieces of work, undertaking projects. I would think that when looking through applicants with similar degrees, not having an Honours degree and not having a dissertation would stand out0

Good to read you're feeling a lot easier about it. Sometimes I found it easier to do the first bit and the last bit very, very, very roughly - then the middle bit and use that as the skeleton, then put some flesh on it and polish it up a couple of times for the final draft......................I'm smiling because I have no idea what's going on ...:)

Anyway, I have decided I will not be beaten by a mere 4000 words, and so I'm off to read over what I have done and get a grip of it again.
I may be a while...
Thanks again everyone - I feel so much better about it now it is out of my head.
Yey!! go you! well done, it'll all be ok in the end I'm sure it will
keep going:hello:0 -
I have an appointment with my supervisor next week and have decided the end of Febraury will be the cut off point. I will then arrange regular contact to keep me on track.
What hasn't been done by end of February, won't be, unless I feel far better about it by then!
I am supposed to be enjoying this course, not torturing myself!!
Thanks again for the support.0 -
I don't know anyone who enjoyed final year. It's stressful for everyone but most people crack on and get through it.0

I guess so, or there would be no graduates!
It is a very rushed year I think. Not more difficult as such, but everyone seems to feel it was one big rush. The second year seems the best.
I'm part time now anyway so it's not quite as bad for me, thank goodness.0 -

Be thankful you missed the days when the results of your whole degree rested on 3rd year final exams. Students today don't know the meaning of the word pressure! (Not aimed at you, Bestpud.)0
