No idea about your specific problem but first I'd head over to https://www.avforums.com and search on the model number of your set.

Other than that I'd consider returning it to the store.
It's my problem, it's my problem
If I feel the need to hide
And it's my problem if I have no friends
And feel I want to die

Does the picture 'jump' when displaying a picture from a different source e.g. DVD, video etc. Do you have sufficient signal strength? Is this digital or analogue TV?

may sound silly but are the leads plugged in tightly, if my scart isn't in tight enough my samsung won't play any sound, you may be hanging on and off the pins with yours?

Sounds like a faulty lead, or one that isnt pushed in enough as seatzie has said.

  • have just changed the lead from the cable box over from the existing plasma to the new plasma and the first tv i have been watching for 6 months was fine....?????

Try plugging an aerial in to it, see if that changes anything, tho' it sounds very much like a duff set to me.

Well until you can determine if its the lead or not, you cant really continue. Unless your willing to take the tv back and swop it for another?
