 i recently bought a freeview box which i thought would be a cheap alternative to all these other sky packages, but it does not give me half the channels, turns out that i also need an aerial upgrade to a digital 1, any idea how much, in EDINBURGH,

In the order of £100 fitted, but try and get a supplier recommended by a friend or neighbour.
There are a lot of cowboys about. That gum you like is coming back in style.0 -
Surfbabe, this is very very common - you're not being ripped off. You do need a good aerial to watch fv.
Sorry that you have to lay out the money, but I think you'll find it really is worth it

Depends on your area. I'd have thought that Edinburgh should have good reception.
It's worth trying an indoor wideband aerial (Wilkinson's do a good one for a fiver) before you lash out on upgrading an external aerial. Works fine for me in North London but signal may be stronger here.0 -
buy an aerial booster from argos (bout £7) and it should do the trick! did with ours anyway we couldnt get any music channels0
