Too true - everything, all pots & pans, roasting tins - God wouldn't have let us invent dishwashers if he wanted us to wash by hand!!
I have a full size machine now, but used to stack up in sink till 1st load done before.A positive attitude may not solve all your problems, but it will annoy enough people to make it worth the effortMortgage Balance = £0

i would be lost without my dishwasher0 -
Our dishwasher at home when I was growing up was called mechanical mary. Mine now is normally wishdosher and bless his heart I really wouldn't be without him. There are only two adults 1 baby in our house, tiddler doesn't have bottles so doesn't make that much washing up but I can still easily fill one load a day sometimes more. I think it makes me a lazy cook, I can make a huge amount of dirty stuff just for a little spag bog cos I know wishdosher is waiting!0

Im on my second dishwasher-its getting dillapitated now but still working well. Couple of years ago it started leaking, I called out andengineer who had to replace the heater element which for some odd reason had arked across onto the interior liner and made a couple of holes-hence the leak. Well the only answer for this was to seal the holes with silicone-yes, the ordinary clear squeezy stuff you get in your DIY stores. It worked for 2 or 3 years. Ive just replaced the silicone as I had a small leak again. I use my DW every day so if you ever get this problem, dont be fobbed off into disposing of dear old dishy.Annual Grocery budget 2018 is £1500 pa £125 calendar month £28.84 pw for 3 adults0

But is a dishwasher Old Style?
I prefer to wash my dishes by hand and leave them in the drainer to dry (much more hygenic than using a germ infested tea towel) before putting them away. I cant justify the extra energy/expense of having a dishwasher when I can do it more efficiently myself.0 -
My Hotpoint dishwasher passed over to the other side last weekend after 14yrs.......and it's been hell on my hands this week, today a new Bosch was delivered and is doing well.......
An eco wash uses 14 lts of water and covers all the washing up for the day, or sometimes two days so I think that is a lot less water than washing up 3 or 4 times a day, and I only need the hot water on for an hour a day usually, I always put the dishwasher on as I go to bed to make sure I get all the dishes from the day. When I used to use the powder I did get scratched glasses sometimes, but the tablets are much kinder and careful shopping, using bogof's and Lidl/Aldi tablets keep the cost down, I live in a soft water area so can get away with not using much salt, and only remember rinse aid when things are a bit streaky, not very often. i was very tempted by the new tablets which dont need the wraper taken off, but the price of them horrified me
I'd hate to be without a dishy as you really do get used to your china/cutlery being super clean, and I find that stainless steel pans and le crueset pots clean up a treat,
Yes I have cooked a very large salmon in the dishy, as I don't have a fish kettle, wrapped up in tinfoil it was delicious!0 -
Ive only had my dishwasher 3 weeks and i have 2 say its now a valued part of the family and id be lost without it, i dont rinse anything i just bung everything straight in the dishwasher and wait till i have a full load then set it off, my dishwasher actually comes with a rinse cycle but i cant say ive used that as yet, glasses and plates come out shiny and gleaming, my pans and baking trays have never looked so clean and new, and another plus is that my work tops are now free of dirty dishes, there use 2 always be something left lying around waiting ot be washed, not tho we just put them in the dishwasher and there hidden outta the way.£2 coin savers club = £118
20p saver club = £275.80 :T yippeeeee0 -

We put everything in there, chopping boards, wooden spoons, bone handled knives, chopping knives, saucepans (every so often to get the bits i dont bother with when otherwise "washing up" ) dishcloths, scrubbing brushes, stupid inserts in the sink that just get grimy, plate dring rack which gets really manky where the cutlery goes, the teflon tray covers and all the other obvious things. We now work on the principle if it doesnt go in the dishwasher we dont buy it!
I just cant live without my dishwasher :rotfl:0
