Wife mentioned it this morning. Where do people stand who have 5 year warranties on their TV's? Do the manufacturers take over? I paid for my Sony by visa debit, not credit card so doubt I'd have the same protection...0

I think if it's an extended warranty then it's taken out with the supplier not the manufacturer so I doubt they'd take it over... I may be wrong though. Sometimes the extended warranty is actually provided by a third party though not by the vendor so you may be OK. It's worth checking the paperwork on it to see who supplied the warranty.0

Definitely. They're often supplied by dedicated finance or insurance businesses rather than the retailer themselves.0 -

Hmmm-it doesn't seem to be the case here.Have a look at Shop but don't drop-Empire Direct Warranty thread started by imroberts, scroll to post #5 by
deanos. This seems to suggest that this warranty was underwritten by E.D.

MY mom bought a Panasonic Plasma from them just after Christmas (on my recommendation). The extended gurantee on that is a Panasonic one so she should be OK. I would imagine any other Panasonics bought there with the extended guarantee have the manufacturere one as well. It's my problem, it's my problem
If I feel the need to hide
And it's my problem if I have no friends
And feel I want to die0 -
I posted this http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.html?t=1428473&highlight=empire+direct yesterday and then updated as it became apparent what had happened. I have tried to put as much info as possible and is available at current time on what to do if any queries re orders and suchlike.
I would suggest emailing be the better option as at the moment it's impossible to get through via the phone numbers.
