Scottish power final bill refund

I recently changed supplier away from Scottish Power.

At the time of transfer, they converted my dual fuel account to two separate accounts for some reason. They then sent me two separate final bills and a refund cheque for the credit balance on the account.

Close inspection revealed however that they had only refunded the balance for the gas (£50) and not the electricity (£10). When I spoke to them on the phone they said that they don't send a refund cheque automatically if you have a balance of under £35, even if you have closed the account.

So if you have closed a Scottish Power account, check that you have received all your money and don't rely on them to refund it automatically.

you could always try their own trick and pass the £10 debt to a debt collection agency about 3 days after they close the account
