can i switch supplier ?

I have both my electric and gas supply with edf and i do owe money on both the gas and electric to them.
Can edf stop me from swapping to a different supplier all the time i owe them money ?
Started comping in May 2013. Prize fund so far £246

    Usually depends on how much is owing, if its more than say, £100 they are unlikely to let you go until its paid off.

    The best thing to do is try, there is no harm done in putting a switch through and it being cancelled by EDF
    Missing Tesco R&R since Feb '07 :A & now a "Tesco veteran" apparently! ;)

    If you do try and switch make sure that you have enough money to pay for (a) all energy used from last bill until switch date and (b) any debt because they will want it all paid in full with no option to pay it off over months.

    Yes.

    Would it be worth borrowing the money to pay off the debt if you have found a more competitive supplier? Hopefully the savings made will more than cover the interest.
