Parking ticket US

Whilst there last week i was given a ticket for parking facing traffic.
I have plenty of time to pay it, but has anyone experience of contesting a traffic violation in the US? It was at Clearwater FL, incidentally the same day i saw three guys get arrested for throwing sand on the beach - talk about pathetic laws.

If you want to return to the US in the future you'll need to pay it.
Unfortunately, whether you agree with their laws or not doesn't matter, you go to the country and you have to abide by them.0 -
Are you permanently in the US, OP? Or were you a visitor there? If you are a resident, you'd probably be better off finding a US site that can help you.0

My dad got one a few years ago in Florida for the same offence, there was a box on the ticket, that if ticked meant you didn't have to pay, but would agree to attend a driving course - he ticked it and posted it on the day we were returning to the UK. Never heard anything! and he has returned since.0
