I have a pent M, Intel Centrino. I have yet to try Wifi, so if I go to a place with a wifi hotspot is it as simple as turning on the wifi button and away I go, or is there some kind of set up required.

Pretty much, but you will most probably have to pay it.
Your wireless network card will detect the signal and connect. When you open up your brower it will go to the providers homepage where you have to log on. If you do not have an account, you will need to set it up.0 -
Make sure your laptop is patched with windowsupdate, firewalled, and protected with anti-virus/spyware software before you consider connecting to a wifi spot, otherwise you may get more than you bargained for.Ever get the feeling you are wasting your time? :rolleyes:0

No sure if it'll ever be of any use but this is a finder for paying and free hotspots.
