Cancelling a holiday

Hi there
This is probably a silly question, but it's one I've never had to think about before.
I have some accommodation booked for a holiday in France in May which I cannot now take. I paid a deposit, and the terms and conditions state that if I haven't paid the balance within 12 weeks of the holiday date, they are entitled to cancel the holiday wih loss of deposit for me.
I don't mind losing the deposit, but wonder if I am obliged to pay the full outstanding cost? Will they chase me for this/will it appear on my credit record?
Thanks

As long as you cancel the holiday before the cancellation charges are applicable then you will just lose your deposit. If you cancel sooner rather than later you will just lose your deposit.:j Debt free since 31/01/08:j

Dont the T&Cs say about you cancelling? I use an agent in Spain and their terms I only loss 5% of deposit (min €25) if I cancel more than 30 days before arrival increasing to 100% less than 7 days before arrival.IT Consultant in the utilities industry specialising in the retail electricity market.
