 Except I am not old

Just don't have the budget for a Fabia I am afraid. I gues their 2nd hand value is so high because they are so reliable?!

£4k is the max for us, and we will be lucky to get that for the Coupe :(

39 diesel Fabias on Autotrader between £3000 and £4000. Even a 2004 vRS with 70,000 on the clock for £4000.
It's my problem, it's my problem
If I feel the need to hide
And it's my problem if I have no friends
And feel I want to die

I commute 75 miles each way and have a Seat Cordoba, Vario, 1.9TDi Estate that does 53 mpg (excel spreadsheet records it). Known as a cheaper version of a Polo/Golf/Bora and combines economy and still pokey.

T Reg, cost me £900 2 years ago this week and have done 65k miles with only occasional minor problems, nothing major. Certainly not a looker but a good, economical tool for commuting.

My point is there are loads of wheels out there that will suit your purpose, it is just down to seeing what is available when you are looking. Also try asking your question on Honest John website (from Daily Telegraph motoring pages).

I drive a Smart and contrary to the advice in the thread they are not expensive, they can be if you use dealership servicing. I have mine serviced at the local garage at normal servicing pricing. Overall it has given almost 5 years trouble free motoring. I drive a route that is a mix of country roads and A roads, my total commute is 40 miles per day. I get around 55/gallon
