Cancelling sky

Just rang up sky threatening to cancel and only got 2 months at half price, as opposed to the original three.

I think they will offer far better deals once the football season finishes.

however, if i did cancel sky, and then tried to rejoin as a new user in a couple of months would they give me a new box and the new joiner packages?

Alternatively, if they wont treat an existing user as a new user could i get round that by getting another family member to sign up or would i need a name completely unrelated?

Anyone with any experience?

thanks

I Cancelled Sky As I Wanted A New Box. I Then Went And Signed Up At My Mams House, Which Is Next Door To Me, And Got A New Package, Cos When The Man Came To Install It She Said It Was 46 And Not 48!! The Names Were The Same. I Now Intend To Cancel Sky At My Mams And Reinstall It At My House As I Have Rang The Cancellation Department And Got No Incentive To Stay With Them.
    Just about to give up!

Sorry if this sounds rude, but i really must ask you this. Why do you go to the effort of putting a capital letter at the start of each word? It makes it very hard to read and looks ridiculous.

Sky themselves have never offered me any half price deals.

A company on behalf of sky phoned me and asked if I would be interested in a half price deal. I said I would and that was that. I told her honestly that I would cancel at the end of it and if there was any chance of an extended deal, or even a new box as our is really old and slow. She told me they were a company employed by Sky to entice customers back.
She advised when the 3rd half price month was about to start to phone the number she gave me and they would sort me out. (I wrote the number on a scrap paper lingering about, and yes, my husband threw it away!!) Anyway she said she could only give one deal at a time and maybe she could do something when we next talked.

Shame I never got to phone the company. Am about to cancel the half price now so hopfully they'll call in the next month ;)

Or if anyone knows the number that would be handy :p

I called sky to cancel, with idea of getting new customer deal by housemate signing up for sky. They did say at the time that one of the questions asked when qualifying for new starter deal is has anybody in household previously been a sky customer. I held my position as was sick of seeing others getting discounted packages when after 12 years as a loyal customer I seem to be getting penalised.

After around ten minutes of them offering me reduction in channels and service to save cost I eventuially asked if they ahd any special offers. I had seen the 3 months at half price but couldnt be bothered bargaining every 3 months and was more interested in the 25% off per month for a year.

Got there in the end and got my saving Yipppee. Im a sky plus multi room subscriber with the moviworld package (sky plus in both rooms). So this dropped my package deal from £46 per month down to £37 per month.

One tip for anybody calling Sky though is ensure that you try to call Mon-Fri in office hours, as 90% of the time you get through to overseas call centre and they arent authorised to offer any reductions. Ask to be transfered to cancellations department and they can authorise incentives to stay. You need to stand your ground and tell them that you really want to cancel. Its not a gamble really as you have to give a months notice and you can always call them back and tell them youve changed your mind before it expires (if you really want to stay with them)

  • The thing with the capital letters is to do with posting in capitals..on another forum I use this was happening. Appearntly if you type it in all in capitals thats what happens...
