Very short term lease or rent?

Hi,

I need a car for about 3 days a week and won't be doing much mileage.
I have looked at leasing but they seem to be for a minimum of 6 months and costly at this period.
Would a be better of renting for the few days I need the car, or do people sell their part-term leases on?

Any advice would be welcome.
Thanks

Look into liftshare.com, see if you can share with someone.
I found a guy going basically past my house and very rarely have to drive myself. It does add on 30 mins to my journey (waiting) but its cheaper and saves my car adding miles.
  • Hi and thanks for the idea - didn't know there was a site liek that.
Unfortunately my hours are a bit odd, I finish one job at 4 then travel to the next town to start at 5 and finish at 7, so I think my own car would be the only way.

    Cheers anyhow

I'd imagine it will be cheaper to hire just for 3 days - cheapest 6 monthly cost maybe £13 a day for corporate customers, maybe £23-5 for daily rental for 3 days.

If you have strange hours then normal hire cars you'd also get Out of hour charges.

To be honest cheapest probably buying a car then selling after 6 months - just ensure no service is due in the meanwhile.

  • What about a car club like https://www.whizzgo.co.uk? I haven't any experience of them, but they are everywhere in Leeds.
You can take the girl outta Scotland, but you can't take Scotland outta the girl! :A
  • one word.. bangernomics..... buy a car with sixmonths-ish tax and mot, for around 300 quid.. you can pick up first shape mondeos for that... based on 75 quid for 3 days rental, and depending on insurance costs, it may work out cheaper.. as a for instance, my cortina cost 250 quid, around 45-50 quid a year fully comp insurance, 199 a year tax.... but if you just drive till the tax runs out, you can avoid that.... its worth looking into....

Daily rentals from someone like Avis, Budget, Hertz etc....

It means that you will probably have a different car every week though!
