hey guys, just bought myself a brand new laptop and it has a

"AMD Turion X2 RM-72"

processor, is this a 64-bit processor, as on the sticker it has the 64 number in the corner??

    as far as i know the processor model number you gave will only be available as a 64 and not 32, im sure there is a way to check but i dont know of 1

    It will be a 64 bit chip AMD released the X2 dual core processors after the Socket 939 64 bit chips, the Turion is a low power consumption cpu for laptops

    The Sempron is the budget end for AMD this is sort of comparable with Intel's Celeron
  • is is a 64 bit cpu...but unless you're running a 64 bit OS..with software making use of 64 bit...?

    Easiest way backup all data format and install clean. Some apps may not work on Vista 64. You could always try a 64 bit linux distro, but that *will* invalidate your warranty so would installing Vista 64 bit.

    I think you only get the 64 bit version on the Ultimate disc. Otherwise you have to purchase it.
