We are also living in France and trying to resolve debts of 10K. It's really difficult to get advice on this situation. Don't listen to that idiot who wants to break your legs. Why have people got a problem with living abroad - we are not all living on boats etc. Wages are alot lower abroad and there are few benefits available.

Why don't you try reading what the OP is asking, IDIOT !! I've no problem with anyone living abroad !!

The OP has NO intention of paying his debt and wants to know if anyone will chase him because he doesn't want to pay/can't be bothered to pay. He thinks that moving abroad absolves him of his responsibilities to pay !! He borrowed the money so has to accept he should pay it back. If he doesn't I hope they chase him and cause him as much grief as possible.

It's a simple fact that there are many old biddies sitting at home, who's life was spent doing what they thought was right.
Secure little jobs of no consequence, paying the mortgage on a house that was over valued ten fold, spending 30 to 40 hours per week in front of the television watching rubbish, who now suddenly get a new lease in life through the web. Telling others that they are wrong, being as unhelpful as possible to people who could do with advice. These spiteful remarks come from people who's heads are full of regrets, anger and hatred. They are very brave on the web, but they would never spit out their remarks to your face because these are the real cowards. Well it takes all sorts and Britain certainly breeds an unhappy lot. Take no notice and do what you feel is best and very good luck. By the way Britain IS bankrupt.

What do you really expect though? You sit there & are looking at ways to avoid paying back your debt. This isn't about internet warriors or anything like that, its more a question from me asking where the hell your morals are? You spent the money & should pay it back. Or was escaping to France just another way of putting your head in the sand?

Can we please remember the forum rules about being civilised and polite? I know opinions differ, and everyone is of course free to express theirs, but there's no reason to get angry or for tempers to fly about.

As such, can I suggest to exel that you edit your last post (the shouting and calling names bit)? I may personally agree with what you have to say, and as you're a frequent poster I don't want to report you for infringing forum rules, but I do consider your insult abusive and intolerant.
  • Again, like i said complete stranger. No advice just spitting out nonsense.
    For those listening to this!
This could be a very useful site for serious minded people. One has to side step the strange replies that shot from the mouth of people who are angry with themselves.
Be patient, helpful replies can come.

This reads like you've suddenly thought of a reason to justify your choice not to pay your dues. Your comments are irrelevent to the thread. However, it's unlikely that many/any old folk have recently bought houses, and those who have, will have downsized, having made a fortune on the house they bought 20 or 30 years ago. Their mortgage will have been very low - depending on area, they may have only had an £8000 or £10000 mortgage, because I remember prices that low 30 years ago. No, any "old biddies" out there, as you irreverently call them, will be laughing all the way to the bank in terms of low mortgage and increased capital gains.
Telling others that they are wrong, being as unhelpful as possible to people who could do with advice.
You want advice on how to rid yourself of the responsibilities you agreed to? As an example, I have hundreds of helpful posts under my belt, but won't help those who just want to help themselves and think they can borrow money with little or no responsibility to pay it back.

Believe me, I would. A spade's a spade in my back garden.

:rotfl: There is a lot of hatred in France, as in other countries. If France and the French are so good and heavenly, why do they blockade ports and burn foreign produce whenever they throw their teddies out of the pram?

I agree that you can hear the spitting in Excel's post, but it's nothing to report about imo. The only name he's used is "idiot", which is what artbreak called him in post 3. I don't think idiot is a sensorable word. I'm more concerned about people thinking they have the right to abandon all responsibility for their actions and effectively steal from the loan providers that they signed a contract with.

  • I have lost track of who asked questions and who has replied, but to comment on the original post. I was told by a credit card company very recently, that the agreement exists only as long as UK residency continues. If you move abroad, you have to close your account, which presumbly means pay in full.

For those in financial hardship, I have heard that you can ask for interest to be frozen, allowing you to pay off the original debt. I don't know how this would apply to no longer being resident in the UK, but it might be worth enquiring about. I'm sure there are people here with more relevant experience than I have - hope this helps.

Personally I'd hope they send the boys rounds and break both your legs and after that string you up by the B a l l s !! ;)

Can paying hurt as much as that ? :rotfl:

I'm assuming you carry the same resentments to those people who run up massive debts living a lifestyle that goes way beyond their means, then they file for bankruptcy and have all those debts "written off" ........ I bet you're a barrel of laughs in the Debt-free wannabe forum! :rotfl:
