  • Why shouldnt part of the bbc relocate to salford?why should so much of it over the years have been developed in and around London?
Its about time that more official bodies were spread more evenly around the UK,after all london isnt the centre of the known world !
And if in the process some of our money has to be spent then so be it.

If you were starting the BBC tomorrow then I might agree with you. But to move thousands of people, at a cost of many millions, just for the sake of 'inclusiveness' is crazy.

    I've been Money Tipped!
My husband works for a big company that has relocated to Central London, mad people who make these decisions.

However they lost loads of employees as it was move with us or P45. No relocation packages for anyone.

Even the MD lives in Manchester and commutes. Funny enough the finance department are now saying too much is being spent on travel!! Does nobody think these things through.

I think us money savers need to have some high profile jobs, we would soon sort things out I think:D

I am more annoyed that they are paying to much more for Jonathan Ross, Ann Robinson and Wogan. Thats not because of the problems a few months ago with JR, I just think they are not worth the amount we customers pay. I would get rid of all 3

You could cancel your license if you feel strongly. Although I think moving the BBC around our isles is a barmy idea, I like the BBC and the £11 or so that comes out of our account each month is well worth it in my eyes.
  • looks like bbc has a contract with cartus for the relocations and house purchases / sales. cartus is a specialist in this area. they also seem to provide similar services to other govt bodies like the prison service. i recently bought my house where cartus was involved as the relocation company as can be seen from the paperwork and as far as i know the previous owner worked for the prison service.

wonder when they will get rid of the tv license fee which finances obscene payscales for foulmouthed presenters and !!!!!! house hunting/improvement programs and scrapheap 'art' sales. most other countries manage to have tv channels surviving purely on advertisement revenue or subscriptions and still have good tv services.

What's the point of the BBC moving to Salford to be more diverse if they're not going to employ the people of Salford.

Brilliant plan. No wonder licence-payer money is required for these mega-incentives to encourage them to move, but I don't see why they can't just train new staff who already live in the North.
