  • If it is Windows XP Home, then rebooting into safe mode will allow you to login as administrator (with no password).
You can then reset the password of your normal account.
To access safe mode press F8 whilst the PC is booting - if the XP booting logo comes up without a menu popping up first, restart the PC and try again.

You could remove the hard drive and put it in a caddy and connect it to a PC. Or download this..

    http://home.eunet.no/pnordahl/ntpasswd/

that's a Linux disk that can reset the password for you.

WARNING YOU USE THAT AT YOUR OWN RISK!!

It's worked for me before but if used incorrectly (follow the instructions carefully) it can make a system unable to boot.

There is no contact number for Microsoft / Windows for this. You are expected to remember your password, it wouln't be much use as a password if anyone could phone up and get your password reset.

I have tried this and it still goes straight to the normal account and is looking for a password. It is Windows Vista if that makes a difference
