Hi over the last week or so I have been doing a meter reading and shocked at what units we are using a day, so to cut a long story short I rang npower to find out what this is going to cost me on my bill, I was on a pre-payment meter up until august 2006 and thought it would be cheaper to pay my bills by monthly direct debit instead, so when i rang npower tonight i was told that since i had a normal meter put in back in 06 they have been undercharging me, something like 5p a unit instaed of 14p a unit, the lady said they had not updated there system.

So I have to pay something like an extra £589 or spread that over the next 6 months by DD, or go back to a pre-pay , and was told it will actually be cheaper to back to that method, I just dont know what to do

I don't think they can charge you back to 2006 they can only charge for the year I think? As its their error not yours and you were not aware of it.

I think the 'only one year' rule applies if you haven't had any bills or charges for a year. Their error, but they're giving time to pay - don't think they have to write it off.
