good afternoon all, we are purchasing a property abroad and are now at thw stage of getting mortgage on this, we are applying to barclays italy as we want a euro mortgage as hopefully most of our rental payments will be in euros, anyway the want 6 months bank statements which i dont keep and went into a branch of first trust today to try and get these sorted but they want to charge me £10 per page:eek:  , has anyone else came across this ? surely under data protection or whatever i should be able to get these at a reasonable cost and i dont feel £10 per page is reasonable.
thanks in advance

£10 should be MAXIMUM they charge if requested as part of a subject access enquiry. RBS group charge £5 per sheet but max of £10.
I assume you don't do internet banking as I dare say you could print them off yourself.0 -
There was a thread about this recently, where people mentioned requesting the statements under the data protection act - only problem is that they have 40 days to do so, and could drag their feet, and also provide them in a format unacceptable for Barclays Italy - i.e. just entries, or a general ledger, no logo, etc.
I'd be inclined to order them whatever the cost and then complain to First Trust about the price of the statements - even if they work off microfiche and have to reprint the statements off that, there's nowhere near £10 of labour involved per page. What would William Shatner do?0 -

from your title i assume you have a fair bit of knowledge in this area. is it the case that for missing months they will not accept statements printed out but not on headed paper but are stamped and certified by the bank which will match those on headed paper ie account number ,dds etc0 -

Ring them up and ask what they'll accept - always the best when it's something major like a mortgage, because saying someone else on the forum told you it was ok won't get things moving any quicker if they're not happy with the statements!0 -
Some banks are happy to stamp bank statements printouts for free if this is acceptable by Barclays Italy0

I have no idea of the exact requirements of Barclays Italy, I'm afraid.
I would check with them first, but I know from experience that Barclays France will accept statements that are stamped and with a letter to confirm they're genuine from the bank, on headed paper, etc. What would William Shatner do?0
