Employees working from home claiming travel VAT?

Hi There

I am an employee forced to worked from home (i.e. not optional), that has to commute to & from my appointments.

Currently I am unable to claim this travel back from my employer, but can I at least claim the VAT from HMRC?

I would have thought that you'd be able to claim travel back at HMRC rates if using your own car.

You cannot claim VAT without being VAT registered.

I dont see that unless you are registered for VAT that you`d be able to make such a claim
why wont your employer pay you mileage?

When I had to work from home my mileage to appointments was paid, the same as when I was office based. Didn't you negotiate this when the situation started?

you can claim from the inland revenue, you just need to work out how much you spend and they'll add it to your tax allowance, you can get a refund on the previous year too xx
