in Credit cards
Just joined and would be grateful for some advice please.
I currently have two cards one being a Capital One (Premier) card and the othe being a Barclaycard.
The Capital One card ARP was hiked up from 20% to 25% in November and the Barclaycard ARP went up from 24% to 27.9% also in November.
As a result I tried to get two cards to replace them with a better ARP I was lucky Virgin gave me a card with 15.9% ARP and 9 months 0% on B/T.
I tried to get a Halifax One card but was declined they stated that there was something in my credit file which caused the application to be declined.
I have checked my file and there does not appear to be anything there which is suspect having said that I did have a few problems about 10 years ago (Divorce)
Now to my question is it worth appealing to Halifax to reconsider my application pointing out that I only wish to replace my cards and not have additional one's.
I have held a current account with the Halifax for the last 12 years or so with no problems.
And also when I phoned Barclaycard this morning and told them I was not happy about the interest rate and mentioned that I now have a Virgin card they reduced the ARP down to 17.9%.
So over to you and thanks in advance.

You don't give any information about your credit limits and balances. Every new card increases your total credit available and worsens your chances to get further credit. It is always worth appealing if you have some arguments - and you have nothing to lose.
BTW, have you used your full Virgin credit limit? If you have something left you can transfer a part of the remaining balance on your other card.0 -
Thanks for the reply Sorry forgot about c/limits Capital One £1000 with £800 outstanding which has been transfered to the Virgin card Barclaycard has £2500 limit with £1000 outstanding.Aiming to be debt free....but still off target0

I think for such low limits my guess about total credit available being a reason of regection is wrong. This could be important only if available credit is close to annual income.0
