Car insurance - Scraper prices different to website prices...?

Hi all,
I'm sure this has been discussed here before, but I've been unable to find the relevant thread.
Anyway, I've gone thru' the scraper process of finding the cheapest car insurance going.
To double-check, I then input the exact same details as shown on the results page of a scraper-check (i.e. when it shows you whether the policy has legal assistance, if your NCB is protected, the total excess etc), on the website of the insurer that I'm interested in.
And the quote I get at that point, is different (higher!) than the scraper quote!
Can someone explain how this is the case please?
Cheers...

If you read the scraper website uses a standard scenario for example someone who drives 12,000 miles a year, doesn't have any modifications on their car and has an excess of £250.
On the insurance companies actually website you put in your full details which varies slightly with each insurer and can easily change your excess amount to see different prices.
Therefore you may get different quotes for the same insurance company.
In my case I actually got cheaper quotes by putting information directly in the car insurance companies websites even if though my car has modifications.I'm not cynical I'm realistic
(If a link I give opens pop ups I won't know I don't use windows)0 -
Some comparison sites don't pass the information through to the insurer properly. If you click through to the insurer from the comparison site, then check the Statement of Fact (or the page that tells you what you've told them) and you'll soon see something is wrong!0

Price comparison sites often negotiate rate reductions with insurers.
Either that or some of the assumptions they make don't quite fit with the insurer0
