Sky + signal fault

Hi,
I was wondering if anybody can help, my Sky + has started having problems receiving a signal and recording.
I checked my signal strength and line 1 has a good signal but line 2 has no signal at all. I have checked connections egs to the box and even swapped 1 and 2 round but no change.
One of the cables is receiving a signal ok while the other is not so before i get my ladders out to look at the dish am i right in thinking the problem will be with the cable from the box to the dish and not the dish out of line ( 1 of the cables is receiving a signal fine )
I should mention, the fault started one very windy night.

Thanks for your help

OP, its possibly a cable fault, but equally possible that you have a partial failure of the LNB, with Sky + as you are doubless aware you use two of the LNB connections at the dish, there are two more you could try.
2OP, Snow settling on the LNB will stop the signal, if water has got into the cable that will also kill it.
That gum you like is coming back in style.
  • Think best thing is to get up my ladders and check the connections then and hope it is a simple fault. I'm just hoping it is not the box faulty but don't think it is the box, Sky are wanting to charge me a silly price just to come and look.
By the way, it's snowing here now but had the fault for 2-3 weeks now.

Do as Penrhyn suggests, change the cables at the LNB ( dish end ), see if that improves things.

It is only a 5 minute job, don't over tighten them.

But be sure to waterproof them. Blu-Tack is a good standby if you don't have the proper stuff.

The " proper stuff " is self amalgamating tape that is stretched around the connection to give a long lasting waterproof seal, costs about £3 a roll.;)
