Gas cooker flame orange

We have a free-standing gas cooker/hob, and just recently the flame was glowing orange in the oven. Its a few years old, but not ancient. I checked the jets, and it seems quite clean. We have a gas alarm, but its not signaling any problem. Then we noticed the flame on the hob is doing the same thing. Could this be something to do with the gas supply itself?

Good afternoon: Incomplete combustion...further advice here
P.S. Just a thought, have you been painting in your property recently?

Ask to see CIPHE (Chartered Institute of Plumbing & Heating Engineering)
  • Not been painting inside the property, but there was some painting/solvents floating around in common areas (stairwells, etc.). I've checked again and all teh jets appear clean. This started suddenly just a couple of days ago - could it be something in the gas supply (we're with Atlantic)?
  • Well I got out our Camping Gaz stove until I cna get the cooker sorted. I noticed the flame on that too also burns orange (at the tip), in a well ventilated area. Of course, that is a propane/butane mix.
  • Its a coincidence that we started running a humidifier due to children having sore throats (air was very dry), but a couple of days later, the flame seems to have turned mostly blue again. I lit the camping stove and observed same (blue flame). It could be the humidifier, I suppose, rather than gas quality, as the Camping Gaz canister is the same before and after...
