Dongle and Computer

My friend had a contract dongle and computer through TMobile and Car Phone Warehouse

She went BR and the dongle ahs rightly been cut off, but theres an Acer laptop sitting there doing nothing, which her kids need for homework.

So the question Im asking, can the freebie laptop be connected to another conection, what I mean is I have wireless broadband through BT and as they live next door could they link up to my internet connection and use the laptop in my house so they have acces to the internet for schoolwork etc

My laptop is on Windows XP and there Acer one is Vista Basic, someone did say to me that the dongle and its SIM card were the only ones to be able to be used with that Acer laptop that accompanied it.???

Hope this makes sense, Im not very computer literate.

You could try, I dont see why i wouldnt work, i culd be wrong as i dont use the mobile dongles,

The technical answer is yes, you can do that as long as the laptop has wireless networking, different to mobile broadband.

or a usb version of it . It might work if you put in a paya syou go sim in their dongle . Mobile domgles are different to wifi ones

Second for the PAYG sim in the 3G dongle. If the Acer is on Linux, you may need to download some software for it.
