A warning to anyone using capital one. Do not make late payments or you are automatically charged 20 pounds. I asked capital one about this and they said it is standard practice. So I said "you now have one less customer".

Capitol one have also lost another customer. I received a letter in the new year informing me that the APR on my credit card was increasing from 16.9% to 19.9%. They cited difficult martket conditions.

And what CC company are you going to make happy now by becoming their costomer? I don't know any that don't charge for late payments ...boneyed wrote:A warning to anyone using capital one. Not that I'm condoning late payments, but if you politely ask for the £20 back they will usually refund the first late charge payment as a goodwill gesture.boneyed wrote:A warning to anyone using capital one. But charging is standard practice.0 -
Even if they won't give you the full £20 refund, i'm sure they will give you half of it back.
Plus regadring the interest increase - advise them that you wish to continue using the card but not at that rate. Advise that you are prepared to close this account. Be insistant but not rude and there is every chance that they may take it back to the lower rate. - I had this a few years ago.It's nice to be nutty but's more important to be nice0 -
Capital One have increased my interest rate recently, when I asked them to reduce it they refused, however they did ask if I wanted a c/limit rise and if I did then it would only cost me a one off fee of £29.00p. I have been glad of them in the past but enough is enough, so I'm going as well.
By the by I read somewhere last week that Capital One Bank accepts more than 50,000 new customers each month world wide and loses between 4000 and 6000 in the same periodAiming to be debt free....but still off target0 -
Well I had a late £20 charge on my Barclaycard back in december (paid hubby's card instead of min, d'oh!).
I politely phoned them up and initially they were only prepared to refund half but I pointed out (again politely) that all previous payments had been made on time (and I did do a girly please!) and he very nicely refunded all of the late payment.2014 Target;
