Will recorded delivery cover me OK for a £40ish ticket?
Or should I charge extra postage and send Special Delivery next day?
thanks.

Hi RD covers you up to £ 30
Special del is £ 3.85
for 2500 insurance
If the buyer paid by paypal or is going to i would use the special del ,
"special delivery is not insurance against the buyer saying the ticket hasn't arrived, it is insurance in case the RM lose the ticket or fail to deliver it in time for the concert." Cheers sooolin

Jaffa, the only thing I would add to your last but one post is that the special delivery is not insurance against the buyer saying the ticket hasn't arrived, it is insurance in case the RM lose the ticket or fail to deliver it in time for the concert.
Regardless of how a person pays it is up to the seller to either deliver the item or refund in full. If in the unfortunate event a seller has to refund then they need to ensure they are covered by sufficient insurance to make a claim against the RM. With tickets there is also a time element, special delivery is guaranteed next working day delivery, RD can take days.

Thanks mate. I know it's bad to do so, but I'm going to have to bump up the postage to cover the fees! If it sells for £40 it's going to cost me nearly £3 in ebay fees, and that's without the paypal charge! It's poor really for one-time sellers.0

YOu can't bump up the postage cost once the auction ends, in fact if you already have bids you can't even change the auction now.
Whatever you have shown in the listing is what you should charge your buyer. If you want to cover *yourself* against loss them you must pay extra for special delivery. Recorded will only cover you up to £30. The insurance is for you, not for the buyer.

I haven't listed it yet, as I'm assessing my options, I think I'll just go for recorded delivery and as long as Royal Mail get a signature from the address I'll be OK won't I?
Also which option in the picture section displays your picture on the search page rather than just a little green camera?0 -

DOn't risk recorded delivery some of us, well me for one, lose a number of parcels and that includes those sent recorded. If it does not arrive you will have insufficient insurance to claim back your costs from the RM. Cutting corners and leaving yourself unprotected against loss is not a risk worth taking. Secondly it is not unknown for the post man to not bother getting the item signed for. If that is the case the buyer can still make a claim against you, albeit a fraudulent one, and again you risk not being covered.

What i should have said it makes it difficult for the buyer to make a claim with payapl for non deliverly as i am sure paypal class it as a" trackable " method
Unless
its genuinely went missing , then you the seller are covered in that event

If you list it with the correct postage charge, ie special delivery, then you own't be out of pocket.
I can't see why you would take the risk.
Whichever service you offer, its there to protect you - and the buyer pays the postage, not you, so you're not loosing out anywhere!0
