Checking memory cards are genuine

Just bought a 2Gb Sandisk card from Amazon, turned out to be from a trader, it arrived just the card, no retail packaging at all, just a tiny plastic case, and it was posted in an envelope.
It has a serial number printed on the card, is there any way to check it's a genuine SanDisk card, not a fake?
All the others I've bought have been in retail packaging...

It was purchased as a brand new item! Amazon has thousands of traders selling new items, they are listed when you search, most memory cards are sold by traders via Amazon rather than amazon directly (e.g. http://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B000BQ7GW8/)
It is brand new, no marks on the gold connectors has a serial number, checked the sandisk site but can't find anywhere to verify serial numbers. Just concerned whether it is genuine SanDisk or a fake.0 -
I have never received a Sandisk Card that wasn't in a bubble pack, I would be very suspicious.
I never deal with " Marketplace " sellers.0 -

Very wise. I have occasionally bought low-cost items from the Marketplace, but I do a bit of background research to find out more about the company involved.
Amazon's complete lack of responsibility for their Marketplace is shocking and devalues the Amazon brand significantly.0 -
Try registering it on the Sandisk site. Although I'd be suspicious as it wasn't bubble packed but then again that can be faked too.0

Thanks all, I'll contact SanDisk now, really annoyed about this, it appeared to be available from Amazon, just gone back now and checked the "seller feedback" all good, but still it's not a good move by Amazon, I expected them to fulfill the order, as I ordered from them!
Wouldn't have dreamed of buying a memory card from eBay for this very reason.
I normally only ever buy expensive SanDisk cards for professional use, and all come retail packaged, sealed etc. But this was for a friend's compact camera.
I certainly will never deal with this type of sale from Amazon again. Not impressed at all.0 -
