Hi all, I have a few RBS shares, but what will happen to them (and their value) if the government take full control of the bank and nationalise it?

In that case, expect to get nothing back.0

Give them to charity while they're still worth a few pence0

When I looked a few minutes ago, an RBS share was only worth 26p! Better sell them now while they're still worth something. If RBS is fully nationalized you'll end up with nothing.0

Now 21.50 !!!!! thats a drop on the day of 38%, surely the governments going to Nationalise,Liquidity is when you look at your investment portfolio and **** your pants0

Now 18p down 46%, Gollum was on TV this morning absolutely fuming with RBS and its huge exposure to the sub-prime marketLiquidity is when you look at your investment portfolio and **** your pants0

Not advice, but I sold up this morning. Made a loss, but the chance that I'll lose it all just wasn't worth it.
They've fallen even more since I sold so I'm happy with my decision. Down to 12.7p.“I could see that, if not actually disgruntled, he was far from being gruntled.” - P.G. Wodehouse0 -
Now 12.2p for RBS shares - this is incredible:

I'm watching very closely:

So long as RBS retains funding, could become quite a bargain for the long-term investor.
ADDED: Why would RBS be nationalised? So long as it's solvent, it's not a problem. It's investor confidence down.0 -
It was the same with Bradford and Bingley, if it's all over the news I think people will be scared into withdrawing. As soon as the public lose confidence its days are numbered.“I could see that, if not actually disgruntled, he was far from being gruntled.” - P.G. Wodehouse0

B&B was incapable of surviving financially, though, whereas RBS has full backing.
Robert Peston pretty much lays it out here how insanely bearish markets are:

As he points out, Barclays is now valued by market cap at 1.5 years profits.0 -
