Unsure Where To Save My £40k

Options
I am about to receive a lump sum of £40K (house sale proceeds). In the future I would envisage a part of this sum being placed into a business venture, but this may be in a year or two. In the meantime, I am unsure of the best place to invest. I have considered splitting some into my 4 children's savings accounts to avoid interest. I do not work, and receive widow's benefits, which aren't means tested. I am unsure about the tax implications to my savings. I have thought about ISA's or even Premium Bonds for portions of it. Any suggestions?

I've already considered the TVR Tuscan route, but find it's not exactly suited to the school run!

I've got 4 boys ranging from 14 to 5 yrs - you still want to come live with me? Although, the prospect of a live-in babysitter to escape the terrors is very tempting.
