HELP-Internet Disconnection Problem.

My dial-up internet connection (ISP - Tesco) keeps disconnecting after ~ 2-3 minutes on both IE and Firefox. Can anyone please advise me on how to solve this? It only started yesterday upon my return from holiday after being idle for 3 weeks.

Many thanks in anticipation. Must go before the next disconnection!! Too late. I was disconnected before I finished typing.

  • this could be absolutely anything including being your isp.

I presume you are on dial up?

    have you contacted your isp?

do you have anti virus software?

I am on dial-up. I have just uninstalled my anti virus software (it had just expired anyway) with no improvement. Haven't contacted my ISP yet as I wanted to give the experts here a chance first.

I have the same problem with tesco; it's fine all morning but gets increasingly worse as the day progresses, despite showing the same bps speed (usually 50666).
I assumed it was either the US coming on-line & clogging up/slowing down things, or the fault of the ISP; I've been using wanadoo for the last month & it's exactly the same.

dial up connections are never going to get any better these days - no company in the UK is going to be investing anything into analogue. Broadband is cheap and much better.
