School Fete

Hi

We are about to start oranising a summer fair for my lo's school and wondered if anyone had any ideas of the best way to raise money for quite a small outlay.
We are hoping to get a few other mums to help out as well but any ideas you have would be great.

Thanks in advance xx

chocolate fountian we do this at our school fair and it needs a litlte outlay (chocolate, fruit, skewers, marshmallows paper plates etc) but the amount of money it brought in suprised everyone, one of the parents had a fountain so we only had to buy the supplies (we are a small school only 129 kids )

It depends on what you can afford. http://www.bakerross.co.uk/category-Fundraising-FUND.htm have lots of things in their fundraising bit which you can use to do lucky dips, tombolas and raffles.

Would it be possible to arrange a day where kids can bring in a bottle or pack of sweets/biscuits to use for the tombola?

At my son's school for Christmas all parents were asked nicely to donate gifts of a certain colour (each class had a different colour theme). The gifts were put into coliur-themed boxes/baskets and raffled to the parents. The finished hampers of goodies looked fab and we all bought tickets.

Could do - guess the number of sweets in a jar and the closest wins the jar.

Can people make things to sell such as:
    A jar of nothing - http://www.craftbits.com/viewProject.do?projectID=1087
    A very special box - http://www.craftbits.com/viewProject.do?projectID=453
The ball of life - http://www.craftbits.com/viewProject.do?projectID=1928
Smelly pot mats or mug coasters - http://www.craftbits.com/viewProject.do?projectID=161 (could fragrance with lavender or something else more summery).

Do any of the parents do anything crafty such as sewing, beadwork who may be willing to donate items to be sold/raffled?

Contact local businesses/ sports teams etc for freebies to raffle/auction.

HTH, good luck, it sounds like lots of fun :D

Mics_chick posted a similar thread last year, you might get some ideas from there. http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.html?t=970595

Would definitely recommend yo utry this. Our Brownies leader did it and raised a a staggering amount. If I remember right she charged 1.50. Also did very well on the Tombolla (got lots of donations for prizes) and a real hit with the kids was the Lucky dip and temporary tattoos,

Theres some great ideas on here and I hope you do really well.

  • How about some things for the children to get involved in? A fancy dress competition for example (my dd always enoyed those). Also games involving some 'skill' - like hoopla or hook-a-duck where they have to pay to enter and can win a prize. Places like Hawkins Bazaar do cheap items that can be used as prizes.
some people grin and bear it, others smile and do it :)

    Hi Guys

I am new to this my lo only started at the school in September.

I am a Parent Governor as well and i put forward the fete idea to raise funds for school.

    I have a few ideas:-

    Hook a Duck
    Shooting hoops
    Penalty Shoots
    Whack the rat
    Bran Tub
    Bouncy Castle
    Hot Pork sandwiches
    Hot Dogs
    Burgers
    Cake Stall
    Face Painting
Reveal the picture (this one is great )

Really fancy the chocolate fountain and the idea of brining into school a coloured item for prizes.

I have yet to look at the other threads but will make sure i get onto them tomorrow.

Thanks Everyone your all Brill. Whenever i am worried, sad, happy or in need of advice i know if i post on here someone always helps out. Thanks a million everyone your help and the help of others is an inspiration.

I can't wait to get organising this event i just hope some of the other parents will also get on board hoping to raise a fair amount.

    Will keep you all posted once again Thank You :T :T :T :T :T :T :T

  • I know its nothing to do with a summer fete but does your school do bags2school? We have a collection 2 times per year and generally make £150 approx per time for very little investment in time/energy and no monetary outlay.

Fete wise, the 'stocks' always do well - particularly with teachers in them. Chocolate tombolla. We usually get a bouncy castle in. Cake sale, face painting, second hand books, plant stall (ask class teachers to grow plants from seed with their classes), we also generally have some form of entertainment such as finalists from school talent show etc to keep people there a while longer.
    Hope this helps.

Oh and if you have room we have some craft stall as well we are very lucky to hold are fate on the local sports field so we can have as many stalls as we like but if you don't have much room you could just have 3 or 4 and ask for £10.00 of each
