vhs to dvd

Hi all,

A friend of mine connects a vhs machine to the tv through a dvd player/recorder, this way he can copy vhs tapes onto dvd's as they pass through.

I gave him a vhs of my holiday footage from a few years back and he has done it with that. The dvd works when he plays it back, but it won't work on my machine. Does anyone have any ideas as to why this would happen, it's really confusing me. Why would a dvd work on one machine but not another ??

wht type of DVD is it, some machined only like DVD-R or DVD+R , my brothers will not play DVD+R that I do on mine but DVD-R work

It's a DVD + R, I know my dvd player will do these as I have other homemade dvd's on these discs.... I'm really confused now...

It could be that the Dvd from the recorder was not finallised.This happend to me once until i finallised it to play on any player.

I can't finallise the disc, it keeps saying operation cancelled so I'll assume it has already been done.....

Give it back to your mate to finalise it on his machine. That will do it.

Hi i would second that post as well, i had that problem, until i realised that i hadn't finalised the dvd. It works on all the dvd /players now.

I said to my friend about giving the disc back to him to finalise, which prompted him into actually reading the instruction book, which, surprise surprise, says that's what he needs to do before the discs will work elsewhere ...
