credut card and no cca...

l havw recently fallen behind on my credit card repayments and am really struggling. l got this card in 2002 when l was a student and dont think l signed a cca for it, l will get in touch with hsbc and find out but if l didnt does this mean l can get the debt wiped off?
also l had ppi insurance put on my card twice without my authrisation and it took forever to cancel it so whats the best way to try and claim that back, it only works out a few hundred pound but its better then nothing.
any advice would be great.
thanks.

  • Yes you will be able to avoid paying anything back if there is no signed agreement in existence. However, getting HSBC to admit they don't have it may be a challenge!

Of course, if the balance consists partly of PPI then that is another strategy. If you were a student when you took out the card it is unlikely that PPI was suitable for you (generally it is connected to risk of unemployment).

Read the MSE guide to PPI reclaiming.

By the way, there seem to be a few offensive characters on the boards tonight, so if somebody comes on here accusing you of being some kind of low life by not repaying your debts - just ignore them!
